Did Crossword puzzle-maker
experience a senior moment?
I enjoyed reading the insights from 88 year-old Stormi Storch’s
February 27 letter, in which she pointed out that designating “forgetting” as
the answer for the crossword clue “having
a senior moment “ is a form of profiling. I agree with Ms. Storch’s assertion that many
50 and 40 year olds are sometimes as forgetful
as seniors are; and therefore wonder whether crossword creator Jacqueline E.
Mathews failed to remember Stormi’s complaint, when two months later the May 29
crossword included the clue for 57 across as: “Memory ___; senior moment” (The ‘correct’ answer was lapse.)
